ODYSSEUS’ SONG
I loved a girl
whose hair
shone in the sun
like gold,
whose eyes
sparkled with life.
I left her,
frightened
when her eyes grew
old.
I spent nine years
at sea,
the memory of the
pain
I left in her eyes
haunting me,
impatient
to return again.
